Stroll through the districts of Saint-Germain and the Palais Bourbon in search of the visible or hidden traces of Freemasonry in the capital. Moreover, these scattered symbols illustrate the taste for secrecy that characterises the Masonic initiation rite: its new members are introduced by co-option and are required not to reveal the identity of other members throughout their initiation. Thus, Masonic secrecy has always fuelled fantasies and preconceived ideas about this order which was born in Great Britain in 1717. Furthermore, your passionate guide will teach you to distinguish the signs and decipher the true from the false to focus on the historical origin of the Freemasons, their organisation, the main figures, and above all, their importance in the formation of our society.

In any case, it is a fascinating visit for history lovers and the curious who want to read between the lines of the capital’s architecture to understand the secrets of our history!

As for clothing, comfortable shoes are strongly recommended. In case of bad weather, Cultival reserves the right to postpone the visit.

The Freemasons in Paris

Freemasonry was born in Great Britain at the beginning of the 18th century and spread rapidly in Europe, accompanying democracy and the removal of religion from public debate. However, the study of Freemasonry is inextricably linked to the understanding of important historical and social phenomena in France since the Enlightenment.
