Discovery

Expert's opinion: discovery at your own pace

If you're discovering Paris for the first time or want to offer a simple and flexible activity, the Sightseeing Cruise is our starting recommendation. In about 1 hour, without stopovers, it reveals the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Notre-Dame from the Seine, with free seating on the two decks of the vessel: glazed covered lounge or open-air upper deck, depending on the weather and your preferences. Its decisive asset remains the electronic ticket valid for 12 months, with no imposed time slot and free date changes. Starting from 17 €, it's the most accessible entry point into the world of Bateaux Mouches®, perfect for families and friends, with free boarding for children under 4.

Expert's opinion: choosing the right lunch or dinner cruise

Three gastronomic options share the heart of our selection, and the right choice mainly depends on your moment. For a convivial lunch in full daylight, every Saturday, Sunday, and holiday, the "Douce France" Lunch Cruise (starting from 90 €) focuses on a full menu, drinks included, and an accordionist: it's the warmest and most budget-friendly option. For a gastronomic evening on illuminated Paris, the "Prestige" Dinner Cruise (starting from 135 €) offers 5 courses, organic AOC wines, and live music, with seating assigned on board according to arrival order. Finally, if you're looking for the ultimate experience, the "Excellence" Dinner Cruise (starting from 170 €) adds the detail that makes all the difference: guaranteed premium seating with direct view of the Seine, champagne, and an additional cheese service. In summary: "Douce France" for midday light and a small budget, "Prestige" for the best pleasure-price ratio in the evening, "Excellence" for guaranteed view and champagne.

Expert's opinion: exceptional dates to book early

Four events punctuate the year and quickly sell out. For an evening for two, the Valentine's Day Dinner Cruise (starting from 230 €) reserves February 14th for couples, with champagne and dessert from the pastry chef served for two. On July 13th, the National Day Dinner Cruise (starting from 255 €) offers the best seat in Paris for the fireworks, admired from the panoramic terrace facing the Eiffel Tower, away from the quay crowds. On December 25th, the Christmas Lunch Cruise (starting from 125 €) is designed for families, with a children's menu and praline chocolate log. And for New Year's Eve, the New Year's Eve Dinner Cruise (starting from 480 €), more upscale and mainly for adults, extends the party with live music until 2:00 am to ring in the New Year on the Seine. Our expert advice: for these four dates, book several weeks in advance.

Why choose BATEAUX MOUCHES ?

Unprecedented logistical comfort with free parking

Finding a parking spot in the heart of Paris, just steps from Avenue Montaigne and the Champs-Élysées, is usually a feat. The Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches® removes this obstacle by offering free parking on the quay at Port de la Conférence, accessible only to its clientele. This is not a trivial detail: it's a strategic decision that radically transforms the day's experience. You park your car, walk directly to the pier via the Pont de l'Alma ramp, and board. Zero detours, zero stress, zero extra cost. For families with strollers, groups with luggage, or visitors with reduced mobility, this direct access from parking to the gangway eliminates any friction before boarding, in an area where paid parking is the norm everywhere.

Absolute flexibility: your sightseeing ticket valid for 12 months

Buying a sightseeing cruise ticket for the Bateaux Mouches® in Paris is investing in an experience you will enjoy exactly when you want. No time slot is imposed at purchase: your electronic ticket remains valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, and the date change is entirely free, without justification. Is rain forecasted on the day? You postpone to tomorrow without any penalty. A last-minute unforeseen event? Your ticket awaits you. This total freedom, coupled with departures every 30 to 45 minutes depending on the season between 10:00 am and 10:30 pm, makes the sightseeing cruise the most serene choice for visitors who do not want to rigidify their Parisian stay, and an ideal gift to offer for a later date.

Route map

Departing from the Port de la Conférence, on the right bank at Pont de l'Alma, the Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches® vessels head towards the historic heart of Paris in a large non-stop loop. The cruise first follows the left bank eastward, successively revealing the Musée d'Orsay and its monumental clocks, the Pont des Arts, and the majestic facade of the Louvre on the Seine side. It then circles the Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis, offering unprecedented views of the Notre-Dame Cathedral, before heading back to the right bank. The return to the pier is made along the Quai Branly, with the highlight being the passage in front of the Eiffel Tower, within sight. In the evening, during dinner cruises, this same route is adorned with the lights of Paris and the twinkling of the Iron Lady, which illuminates every hour for five minutes.

A bit difficult to register on the site but on the boat, the welcome was great and the food excellent. It's a shame that they don't comment on the monuments we pass by.

Great cruise, too bad we couldn't hear the guide's explanations well enough at the bottom of the boat. However, I am disappointed regarding the e-ticket that indicated skip-the-line with less waiting, and in the end, we had to wait in line for 2.5 hours, so I don't call that skip-the-line.

My 6-year-old grandson loved it, he listened to all the explanations and took photos to remember. He is already talking about his next visit.

Frequently asked questions

  • Where is the embarkation point for a bateau mouche in Paris?

The embarkation point for the Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches® is at the Port de la Conférence, on the right bank at the Pont de l'Alma, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. By public transport, the Alma-Marceau (line 9) station is a five-minute walk away, as is Champs-Élysées-Clemenceau (lines 1 and 13). The RER C also stops at Pont de l'Alma, convenient from the left bank or Versailles. Bus lines 28, 42, 49, 63, 72, 80, 83, and 92 serve the surrounding quays. For travelers by car, a free parking is available on the quay, exclusively for the Company's clients.

  • Which bateau mouche should I choose for my occasion in Paris?

It all depends on your moment. For a simple and flexible discovery, opt for the Sightseeing Cruise (starting from 17 €). For a convivial meal in full daylight on the weekend, the "Douce France" Lunch is ideal. In the evening, choose the "Prestige" Dinner for gastronomy, or the "Excellence" Dinner for guaranteed premium seating and champagne. Finally, for a memorable date, turn to the dinners of Valentine's Day, July 14th, Christmas, or New Year's Eve.

  • Do I need to make a reservation to take a bateau mouche in Paris?

For the sightseeing cruise, reservation is not mandatory: departures take place every 30 to 45 minutes depending on the season. However, buying your e-ticket in advance is highly recommended, as it offers skip-the-line access without going through the ticket office. On the other hand, reservation is essential for lunch and dinner cruises: these seated options regularly sell out, especially on weekends and during high season. For special dates like Valentine's Day, July 14th, Christmas, or New Year's Eve, book several weeks in advance.

  • Does the bateau mouche in Paris offer free parking?

Yes, the Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches® provides its clients with a free parking located directly on the quay, at Port de la Conférence at Pont de l'Alma. This advantage, exceptional for a tourist site in the heart of the 8th arrondissement, is reserved exclusively for those coming to embark. It allows you to park your vehicle and reach the pier on foot in a few seconds, via the Pont de l'Alma ramp, without worrying about parking meters or paid parking in the vicinity. Parking is offered based on availability: arriving early facilitates access during high season.

  • What is the price of a bateau mouche in Paris for a simple ride?

The price of the Sightseeing Cruise starts at 17 €, with a reduced rate for children and free boarding for children under 4. This ticket grants access to a navigation of about 1 hour, with free seating on the two decks of the vessel, audio guide commentaries in several languages, and regular departures between 10:00 am and 10:30 pm. No time slot is imposed at purchase, and your e-ticket remains valid for 12 months from the transaction date, with free date changes.

  • What are the schedules and frequency of departures for the bateaux mouches?

The Company offers sightseeing cruise departures every 30 to 45 minutes depending on the season, between 10:00 am and 10:30 pm. In high season (spring, summer), departures are more frequent to accommodate the influx of visitors; in low season, the frequency adapts while maintaining continuous service throughout the day. This regularity guarantees great flexibility: no need to watch your watch. For lunch and dinner cruises, the schedules are fixed: boarding at 12:00 pm for the "Douce France" lunch and at 7:45 pm for the "Prestige" and "Excellence" dinners, communicated at the time of reservation.

  • What is the validity period of a reservation for a sightseeing bateau mouche?

The electronic ticket for the Sightseeing Cruise is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. This is one of the major advantages of this option: no time slot is imposed at reservation, leaving you complete freedom to choose the day and time that suits you, and the date change is free, without justification. This flexibility is ideal for adapting to the weather, unforeseen events during a stay, or to offer the ticket as a gift for a later date.

  • Are the menus on the Paris bateau mouche adapted for vegetarian diets?

Yes, the meals served on board systematically include a vegetarian and vegan alternative, both for the "Douce France" Lunch and for the "Prestige" and "Excellence" dinners. Options adapted for gluten-free or lactose-free guests are also provided. To indicate a specific diet, it is recommended to mention it at the time of reservation, so that the catering team can prepare your meal under the best conditions. All menus are translated into ten languages.

  • Are animals allowed on Parisian bateaux mouches?

The policy regarding animals is strictly regulated for hygiene and passenger comfort reasons. Generally, pets are not allowed on board. Two exceptions exist: guide dogs for the blind are accepted on all cruises, regardless of the option, and very small dogs are tolerated only during the sightseeing cruise. For lunch and dinner cruises, no animals are allowed to preserve the gastronomic atmosphere and tranquility of all guests.

  • What is the difference between the Prestige Dinner Cruise and the Excellence Dinner?

Both options last 2h15 and include a gastronomic meal with live music. The "Prestige" Dinner (starting from 135 €) offers 5 courses, organic AOC wines, and seating assigned on board according to arrival. The "Excellence" Dinner (starting from 170 €) adds three exclusivities: a guaranteed premium seating with direct view of the Seine, EPC champagne, and an additional cheese service, with selected estate wines. Choose "Prestige" for the best pleasure-price ratio, and "Excellence" for a guaranteed view and an exceptional evening.

  • Can a Bateaux Mouches cruise be given as a gift in Paris?

Yes, all options can be booked online with instant confirmation by e-ticket, which can be printed or emailed to the person you wish to offer the experience. The Sightseeing Cruise is particularly suitable as a gift thanks to its ticket valid for 12 months. For a memorable occasion, the Valentine's Day Dinner or the "Excellence" Dinner make exceptional gifts for a birthday, celebration, or romantic evening on the Seine.

  • Is it better to take a day or night cruise with the Bateaux Mouches?

Both offer radically different atmospheres. By day, the architectural details of the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, and Notre-Dame facades stand out with precision. In the evening, Paris reveals its status as the city of light: monuments are illuminated and the Eiffel Tower sparkles every hour, a striking spectacle from the river. An outing in the late afternoon allows you to enjoy the warm light of sunset before seeing Paris light up. To fully experience Paris by night around a meal, turn to the "Excellence" Dinner Cruise.

  • A journey through the UNESCO World Heritage

In Paris, there is an avenue that cannot be driven along or walked across in its entirety: the Seine. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1991, along with its banks stretching over several kilometers, it serves as the thread of ten centuries of architectural history condensed into a single landscape. Embarking on a bateau mouche cruise on its waters is not just a tourist activity: it's an open-air reading of the most visited city on the planet. The Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches® in Paris understood this before any other river operators. For over 70 years, its vessels have traversed this liquid ribbon that runs through the capital from east to west, offering at each passage a perspective that the finest hotels on the right bank, panoramic terraces, and the best-documented guides cannot reproduce.

The grand loop taken during each cruise successively follows the noblest quays of Paris: the right bank from the Port de la Conférence, the Quai Branly under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, the Quai d'Orsay in front of its museum with monumental clocks, then the Quais de la Mégisserie and Grands-Augustins towards the heart of the Île de la Cité. Onboard, audio guide commentaries in French, English, and Spanish, complemented by brochures in 27 languages, allow each traveler to grasp the history of the passing monuments. This narrated journey transforms a simple stroll into a lively lecture, delivered from a moving vessel.

The Eiffel Tower seen from the water

With each crossing, the Eiffel Tower imposes its silhouette with quiet authority. Seen from the open-air upper deck, it is no longer just a metal structure: it becomes a living painting that changes face according to the light and time. In the middle of the day, its rivets and girders stand out with almost photographic clarity against the Île-de-France sky. In the evening, during a dinner cruise, the Iron Lady enters her luminous dance: every hour on the hour, for five minutes, her 20,000 bulbs twinkle and transform the nocturnal ride on the Seine into a unique spectacle, impossible to see from the bank at the same angle. This moment, which millions of visitors seek to immortalize each year from the Trocadéro or Champ-de-Mars, you will observe from the river, a glass in hand, on the very water that reflects all this light.

The Musée d'Orsay and its monumental clock

Few Parisians know that the most spectacular facade of the Musée d'Orsay is not viewed from the forecourt, but from the Seine. From the upper deck of a Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches® vessel, the former Orsay station reveals all its railway splendor: its glass and metal canopy, its symmetrical pavilions, and above all, its two monumental clocks whose hands seem to indicate a time suspended out of time. Inaugurated in 1900 for the Universal Exhibition, the station was designed so that its trains would not disrupt the harmony of the banks. Ironically, it is precisely from the river that it is best seen, in all the coherence of its Beaux-Arts architecture.

    The Louvre and historic bridges

The cruise continues towards the historic heart of Paris, where the Seine narrows between its islands and where bridges succeed one another at an almost unreal pace. The Pont des Arts, a pedestrian bridge with a finely openwork metal structure, opens onto the majestic facade of the Louvre on the Seine side: a facade several hundred meters long, dotted with pavilions and allegorical sculptures, never perceived in its entirety from the bank. From the upper deck of a vessel, the perspective is finally complete, and the symmetry of the former royal fortress appears in all its classical rigor. Further on, the Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris despite its misleading name, spans the Seine since 1607 and frames the Île de la Cité like a portico of carved stone.

Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Parisian islands

The passage around the Île de la Cité is undoubtedly the most emotionally charged moment of the entire cruise. Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, reopened to the public in December 2024 after five years of restoration following the 2019 fire, reveals itself from the water at angles no pedestrian tourist can reach. From the Seine, one can discern the absolute coherence of its Gothic architecture: the flying buttresses that soar like stone limbs from the choir's flanks, the south rose window capturing the golden afternoon light, and the rebuilt spire reaching skyward once more. The neighboring Île Saint-Louis, a silent companion, completes this tableau of remarkable serenity: its 17th-century mansions reflect in the calm waters of the Seine.

The Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®: a historical institution

The history of Bateaux Mouches in Paris is intimately linked to that of modern Parisian tourism. Founded in the aftermath of World War II, the Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches® inaugurated a model that did not yet exist in this form: offering visitors from around the world a discovery of Paris by boat, comfortably seated, without physical effort, with an uninterrupted frontal view of the monuments. The name itself often intrigues: it does not come from the insect, but from the Lyon district of "la Mouche", where the first urban river transport boats of this type were built in the 19th century.

Today, the fleet includes several large-capacity vessels, specially designed for navigation on the Seine: reduced draft to pass under the 37 Parisian bridges, enhanced stability, and maximum visibility from all seats. Their architectural particularity is remarkable: a fully glazed lower deck, heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer, ensuring comfort in all weather, and an open-air upper deck designed for photographers. These vessels are also accessible to people with reduced mobility. To discover the entire catalog, the Sightseeing Cruise remains the best starting point for a first encounter with the Company.

The Sightseeing Cruise: the freedom to discover Paris at your own pace

The house's emblematic formula remains the Sightseeing Cruise on the Seine. In about 1 hour, without stopovers, it connects Pont de l'Alma to the historic heart and returns to the same quay, passing the Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides, Musée d'Orsay, the Louvre, the Conciergerie, and Notre-Dame. Seating is entirely free: choose the glazed covered lounge, ideal in cool weather, or the upper deck for a 360° view. The skip-the-line e-ticket, received instantly by email, allows you to board directly without going through the ticket office, and the ticket remains valid for 12 months with free date changes. Children under 4 board for free, and strollers are accepted: it's one of the best family activities in Paris.

Lunch and dinner cruises: French gastronomy on board

Contrary to what one might imagine, the meals served on board are not reheated trays: they are prepared in real-time in the onboard kitchens, by brigades trained in French gastronomy. For lunch, the "Douce France" Lunch Cruise lasts 1h45 every weekend and holiday: full menu, drinks included, accordionist on board, and systematic vegetarian option. It's the most convivial and accessible option.

In the evening, two 2h15 gastronomic dinners are available. The "Prestige" Dinner Cruise offers 5 courses, organic AOC wines, and live orchestra (violin and piano), with assigned seating on board. The "Excellence" Dinner Cruise goes further: guaranteed premium seating from booking, EPC champagne, cheese service, and selected estate wines. While "Prestige" offers the best pleasure-price ratio for a romantic evening, "Excellence" is for those who want the front-row view and champagne for a memorable occasion, a marriage proposal, or a significant anniversary.

Special occasions: Valentine's Day, July 14th, Christmas, and New Year's Eve

Four dates turn the Seine into an exceptional theater. On February 14th, the Valentine's Day Dinner Cruise reserves the evening for couples: foie gras, scallops, veal fillet, and dessert served for two, champagne, and live music facing illuminated Paris. On July 13th, the National Day Dinner Cruise positions the vessel moored at Pont de l'Alma, open panoramic terrace, to admire the fireworks facing the Eiffel Tower, away from the Champ-de-Mars crowd.

For the end-of-year celebrations, the Christmas Lunch Cruise offers a gastronomic menu signed by the Chef on December 25th, live musicians, and a children's menu, ideal for family gatherings. Finally, the New Year's Eve Dinner Cruise orchestrates the most prestigious New Year's Eve on the Seine: premium seating facing the Eiffel Tower, 5-course menu, vintage champagne, and live music until 2:00 am to ring in the New Year on the water. These four events sell out weeks in advance, so it's best to book early.

Preparing your visit: logistics and easy access

Boarding for a bateau mouche in Paris takes place at the Port de la Conférence, on the right bank at Pont de l'Alma, in the 8th arrondissement. The Alma-Marceau station (line 9) is less than a five-minute walk away, as is Champs-Élysées-Clemenceau (lines 1 and 13). The RER C stops at Pont de l'Alma, and numerous bus lines (28, 42, 49, 63, 72, 80, 83, and 92) serve the surrounding quays, ensuring smooth connections from all Parisian districts.

The most decisive logistical advantage remains the free parking at Port de la Conférence, reserved exclusively for the Company's clients. In the heart of the Golden Triangle, parking your car for free is a privilege few establishments can offer. For families, groups, or visitors with reduced mobility, this direct access eliminates any stress before boarding. As for attire, casual wear is suitable for the sightseeing cruise; for lunches and dinners, city or formal attire is expected, in line with the gastronomic spirit of these offerings.
